Today, we have a "duh" headline of the month in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. First some background:
A little while ago, people in the nearby Beaver County (no jokes please) began coming down with Hepatitis A. It was soon discovered that it was a Mexican strain that was traced to a Chi-Chi's restaurant, marking the first time anything Mexican has ever entered a Chi-Chi's. Two people have died of liver failure, and more than 450 have gotten sick. The story has been leading all TV newscasts for two weeks.
The headline: Restaurant needs help on image, experts say. Thank god for experts.
Incidentally, I met the second person who died last week at a dinner for people who were being inducted into the hall of fame for the Air National Guard's 911th Airlift Wing. She and a friend put all the leftover food, which was terrible, at the table into boxes to take home. If only she had better taste, she would never have been at Chi-Chi's, for her wedding anniversary no less, and would never have gotten sick. If there was ever an argument for cultivating a sophisticated pallate, this is it.
